Tradition and simplicity

With a privileged location on one of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, with incredible sea views, this house is designed with a clear and simple concept: two boxes supporting a roof.

The traditional finish of the large wooden tile roof emphasises respect for vernacular architecture and becomes the leitmotif of the project. It shapes and distributes the programme. Two boxes on the sides, with a more closed architecture, contain spaces for more private uses, while the more social areas are located under the large roof.

Blending in with nature

The central space is surrounded by large windows that open and hide completely, allowing the roof to float and blurring the limits between the exterior and interior spaces of the house, making them flow into one.

On the other hand, one of the unique elements of this project is the use of local rocks, typical of the area, which are integrated into the architecture and, in turn, make it blend in more with the natural environment, also allowing vegetation to take centre stage in the spaces.
