Three generations of architecture and construction in Mallorca

The roots of Estudio Cano Arquitectura go back to the 1960s, when Emilio Cano founded his construction company in Palma de Mallorca. It marked the beginning of a family tradition built on first-hand knowledge of building sites, construction quality and property development.

Fernando and Alberto Cano Schulte-Lindhorst grew up in that world, accompanying their father on site and learning the trade through experience. After completing their architecture studies and starting to develop their own projects, they founded Estudio Cano Arquitectura in 2005.

Today, that legacy lives on in a multidisciplinary team that combines knowledge built up over generations with a contemporary outlook and an openness to new ways of designing.

Collective thinking for architecture projects in Mallorca

Architecture is a collective process. At Estudio Cano Arquitectura, projects evolve through conversation and a constant exchange of ideas between the team’s different disciplines. Architecture, technical management, interior design, landscape design and construction are connected right from the outset.

This cross-disciplinary way of working lets us look at every challenge from different angles and arrive at solutions that rarely emerge from a single viewpoint. The ‘hive mind’ is part of the studio’s own methodology and explains why each project can have a different answer.

Architectural design in Mallorca: where design meets construction

Our technical, regulatory and construction knowledge allows us to anticipate difficulties, understand complex projects and turn constraints into opportunities.

Design is never separate from delivery. Every decision is also tested against feasibility, materials, construction and its ability to be realised with precision.

“Mastery of technique allows us to find solutions that seem impossible or, at the very least, unusual.”
Alberto Cano

Getting to know Estudio Cano Arquitectura, architects in Palma

Estudio Cano Arquitectura was founded in 2005 by Fernando and Alberto Cano Schulte-Lindhorst. The studio is the continuation of a family tradition in construction and property development that dates back to the 1960s.

We bring together creativity, technical mastery, planning knowledge and property insight. Each project is a tailored response to its site, its client and its constraints, never a pre-set aesthetic.

No, we don’t work to a fixed, house style. Each project grows out of its own conditions, and we look for the solution that is most coherent, buildable and distinctive for that particular job.

The studio works collectively and across disciplines. Decisions are enriched by the exchange of ideas between architecture, technical management, interior design, landscape design and the other disciplines involved in the project.
